Exploding Kittens was the most heavily funded game in Kickstarter history. Created by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), and Shane Small (Xbox, Marvel), the card game is a high-strategic version of Russian Roulette heavy on the humor and big on the detonation. Riddled with Inman’s porcine feline artistry the game quickly became “the most-backed game in Kickstarter history and the campaign with the most number of backers, ever.” Not too shabby! Well, once again, Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs) and Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal) have collaborated to bring a brand new monster-building cardgame. This one is called BEARS vs BABIES and it’s out for blood. No surprise, the Kickstarter for the new game is already 1000% funded with 30 days still to go.
In Bears vs Babies you must build monsters to defeat an army of the scariest babies you’ve ever seen. Inman had started working on the game that would become BvB a few years ago, before Exploding Kittens ever came about. It was put on hold when people went crazy bonkers for those crazy cats. Once things calmed down on the kitty end, Inman asked Elan to help him with the design of the monster-building game. Inman’s major goals for the new game were building, using those things you build to ruin other people’s things, and eating babies (the paper kind), of course.
