Video Licks: “ConanCon” Conquered SDCC with “Kingsman,” “LEGO Ninjago” & “Game of Thrones'” Star Power

ConanCon

For those of you who enjoyed a week of San Diego Comic Con mirth, may your weary toes be immersed is a warm pool in sudsy bath salts. For those of you robbed of those coveted badges, you enjoyed the Con from the comfort of the web, as it should be. This year, the CONAN program offered up a plethora of celebrity guest interviews and more at the Spreckels Theatre in San Diego. The CONAN CON shows that lucky fans had the pleasure of viewing later in the week included the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the cast of The Lego Ninjago Movie (which we were honored to attend), and the cast of Game of Thrones. One of the highlights of these shows included Kingsman’s Colin Firth describing his joy acting alongside the renowned musical artist Elton John, as well as trying on some of the entertainer’s duds.

It wouldn’t be a proper Conan Con without huge celebs harnessing the fantastical powers of SDCC. In these hilarious takes, you’ll find Nick Offerman (Son of Zorn), Aubrey Plaza (Legion), Patton Oswalt (Veep), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Tatiana Maslany, and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) trying out for the role of Teen Dumbledore. I don’t know about you, but I think Middleditch was born for this role.

The Conan Con event featuring the cast of The Lego Ninjago Movie did not disappoint. Dave Franco, Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux, Zach Woods, Michael Pena, Kumail Nanjiani and Abbi Jacobson graced the stage of the Spreckels Theatre. We were privileged to hear what the cast thought of their Lego Ninjago figures and even more surprised to hear what toy Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) would rather be voicing. OK, maybe not THAT surprised.

In the LEGO film Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) voices the character Nya, but in a Lego short The Master: A Lego Ninjago Short, she plays a chicken. Conan O’Brien asks her about the idea behind the role and how difficult it was to do the voice of a chicken. I think Abbi’s got her “BALK!” down.

The CONAN Comic-Con ended their SDCC journey with a bang featuring the cast of Game of Thrones. Not only did Alfie Allen, Jacob Anderson, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Conleth Hill, Sophie Turner and Isaac Hempstead Wright excite the crowd for the new season, but we friend of the show T.J. Miller offered up some Iron Throne cosplay.

Did I mention, the eunuchs were out in full force, as well? We can’t wait for a fourth installment of CONAN’s Comic-Con! See you next year!
