MaximumFun.org, the place where shows like Lady to Lady, Jordan, Jesse, Go!, Judge John Hodgman and more bring you smiles on the regular, offers up it’s FIRST fully-scripted narrative comedy podcast this June 13th! The podcast, which began as a live pilot read, is created by Jordan Morris (Comedy Central’s @Midnight) and executive produced by Nick Adams (BoJack Horseman) and Jesse Thorn.
BUBBLE, takes place in the quirky town of Fairhaven, which is sealed off and protected from otherworldly, psychic beasts that live in the surrounding Brush. I’m getting Wayward Pines feels already. Brush native Morgan (Alison Becker of Parks and Rec fame) leads a band of monster killers as they they try to make ends meet and find love. Yes, that would totally be the darkest freelance gig ever. The “part allegory, part commentary, part ass-kicking” sci-fi adventure comedy is being touted as “Broad City meets Buffy meets the BBC radio version of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” but I’m gonna call it Portlandia meets Wayward Pines, (even though I haven’t listened to a whole episode yet). HA!
In addition to Alison Becker, the podcast stars Keith Powell, Cristela Alonzo (Cristela), Eliza Skinner (The Late Late Show) and Mike Mitchell (Love) and is narrated by Tavi Gevinson. Guest stars will include Judy Greer, John Hodgman, Rob Corddry, Paul F. Tompkins, the McElroy brothers, Aparna Nancherla, Martin Starr and more. Squee! Bubble will be offering up an 8-episode season which you will be able to listen to on MaximumFun.org, Apple Podcasts, and more. New episodes will release every Wednesday.
