Quick Dish NY: DYSTOPIA Sketch Comedy for Ladyfest 2019 This Friday 8.9 at The Tank

According to Wiki, a dystopia is a community or society that is undesirable or frightening (otherwise known as Monday, j/k). So how do we make sense of such a world? Well, having a sense of humor is a start to approaching that which we can’t make heads or tails of! As part of Ladyfest 2019, DYSTOPIA, the sketch show, will create dystopian universes where political, economic or social nightmares have come to reality in order to get the audience wondering, could this really happen? I’m going out on a limb here and guessing, it probably could! This Friday, your host Marcela Onyango will follow up the performances with real life activists to help gauge whether these nightmare scenarios could come to fruition, and the best way to stop them from happening (if possible). This month your all-female writer’s room and female performers include:

Justine Davie

Vannessa Jackson

Steph Piperis

Karen Sepulveda

Shelby Slauer

Shalini Nina

April Boddie

Tiara Francis

Marcela Onyango

& Christine Bark

reproductive rights activists Solange Azor and Casey Bauer
