Mary Jane French (Thrillist) and Sarah Mowrey (The Drop Comedy Club) have created a standup show where female comics get their chance to shine, unfettered by pesky social systems. At FEMMES THE RULES, male comedians are paired with female (or non-binary) comedians. The female comedian can interrupt the male comic commentary, riffs, and arbitrary smackdowns. When the man’s set is done, the woman gets her opportunity to make the audience laugh and, guess what? The male comics gets to soak in her set without as much as a peep uttered. Yowser!
