Quick Dish: “The Goldbergs” premieres tomorrow on ABC

Being a child of the 80s I’m not so silently looking forward to this flashback comedy that harkens simpler times when cell phones were large bricks, hair was flammable, and books were not doorstops (ok, maybe they still were in some cases). The Goldbergs stars Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s golden boy Jeff Garlin as Murray, patriarch of the Goldberg family. Wendi McLendon-Covey plays his wife Beverly who is mother to three less than charming children, Erica (Hayley Orrantia), Barry (Troy Gentile), and Adam (Sam Giambrone). TV legend George Segal graces the cast as grandpa Al “Pops” Solomon who loves to assist his youngest grandchild Adam in the ways of the heart. Check out this teaser:

The Goldbergs was written and executive produced by Adam F. Goldberg (Breaking In, Fanboys) whose young life the series is based on. The Goldbergs is a product of Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison. You’ll recognize Patton Oswalt as the voice of Adam. Here’s hoping it finds its niche in the family comedy category.

Mentions: The Goldbergs follows Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tuesdays at 9/8C on ABC.
