This Comedic Solo Show Has Absolutely No Vomit, Don’t Worry.
After sold-out and award-nominated runs at the Hollywood Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe, LA-based writer-performer Emily Markoe brings her dark comedy solo show My Little Phobia to New York for ONE NIGHT ONLY. Monday, May 18, the show explores the hilarious, relatable, and vulnerable reality of living with emetophobia and OCD through characters, storytelling, and physical comedy.
Emily wrote a perfectly normal solo show. It’s not about vomit — how could it be?! Emily has emetophobia, the extreme and debilitating fear of what most of us unpalatably refer to as puke, barf or hurl. Watch as her show unravels: interrupted by obsessive-compulsive rituals, resurfaced memories, and an uninvited visit from her childhood therapist, Dr. My Little Pony®. As Emily struggles to keep everything under control, we realize she doesn’t actually have control over anything — not her show, not her audience, and most alarmingly, not even herself.
Through the lens of a very specific obsession, My Little Phobia transcends its subject matter to deliver a funny, strange, and moving experience for all audiences. Grab tickets stat!
