Sometimes your favorite programs (yes, there are other applications) need to spark viewer interest, so they will make an often misguided attempt to generation attention/publicity. Case in point, when The Brady Bunch introduced a new character halfway through the show’s fifth and final season. Yup, the “Cousin Oliver Syndrome” was born when the Brady’s Cousin Oliver became a thorn in the family’s side. Desperate ratings grab, anyone? Of course!
