Quick Dish NY: “JOEL PEREZ: Playing with Myself” 1.31 at Joe’s Pub

Are you ready for an evening of original songs and stories direct from the very funny, award-winning actor and writer, Joel Perez? Well then, let me tell you all about the entertainer bringing you JOEL PEREZ: Playing with Myself. Joel’s writing includes The Black Beans Project (The Huntington Theatre), Playing With Myself (Ars Nova), and The Church of the Holy Glory (Ars Nova ANTFest).  He’s done his share of theater work that includes Kiss My Aztec!, and Sweet Charity. He played Lincoln in Netflix’s tick, tick… Boom! (Netflix). On TV, you may have caught him in Jesus Christ Superstar Live! (NBC), Person of Interest (CBS) and Odd Mom Out (Bravo). And if that wasn’t enough, he performed with the UCB Maude sketch team Peach, PLUS the musical theater sketch show SHIZ. I could go on, but you get it, the kid’s got the chops!

Monday, January 31st at Joe’s Pub,  Joel will entertain the audience with a show that’s part cabaret, part stand-up, part storytelling, and part super silly. Perez will concentrate his attention on his experiences growing up queer, Puerto Rican and ex-Pentecostal. Now that’s one heck of a combo, so you know it’s gonna be some rich content! Opening up for Joel, will be stand-up and writer Milly Tamarez who’s been featured on Thrillist, Vice, BET, Flama, Above Average, Univision, and Comedy Central. Do not miss this delightful night of sharing from New York’s finest talent.
