Calling all die-hard fans of The Best Show! Comedy Cake is giving away 2 pairs of tickets to see your favorite duo SCHARPLING & WURSTER at The El Rey this Saturday, September 5th. Before we get to the giveaway, let’s give you a little history. Tom Scharpling began broadcasting The Best Show On WFMU from the New Jersey radio station in 2000. Jon Wurster, drummer for The Mountain Goats and Superchunk yadda yadda yadda, would call into the show on Tuesday nights and give his two cents on that evening’s subject matter. From humble beginnings this relationship blossomed into a long-form comedy flower. The Best Show on WFMU went off the air in 2013 and returned in 2014 as The Best Show. The new independent show did it’s broadcasting on the Internet in the same Tuesday night time slot continuing to cater to it’s world-wide cult audience with “three hours of mirth, music, and mayhem.” This year Scharpling & Wurster began performing LIVE, giving audiences a taste of their Best Show achievements drawing in new and hard core fans. Look forward to characters like PhillyBoy Roy, Timmy Von Trimble, Gene Simmons and more! History lesson done.
