Quick Dish NY: The First NY Edition of THE SECRET SOCIETY OF THE SISTERHOOD 5.29 at Green-Wood Cemetery

OK, maybe it’s not exactly a secret. On the next full moon at Brooklyn’s Greenwood Cemetery Chapel Steps (that’s Tuesday, May 29 for you non-astrologers), THE SECRET SOCIETY OF THE SISTERHOOD convenes for the first time in New York City. This debut East Coast meeting features “storytelling for women and fierce allies of women.” The monthly event originated in Los Angeles, where special guests were invited to read or perform a prepared piece for the theme of the evening. This month’s theme just happens to be “Soooo… THAT happened!” Trish Nelson, who has put together live shows and tours across the country for Key & Peele, Broad City, & Amy Schumer, and more, will host these special guests for this powerful event:

Golden Globe nominated actress Amber Tamblyn
Writer, producer and activist Lorri Davis
Celebrated stand-up comedian and writer for 50 Central Ayanna Dookie
New York Times Bestselling author of The Belles Dhonielle Clayton
music by Kaki King
Treya Lam playing a song from her debut album Good News
& a full moon dance party to follow with DJ Tikka Masala

Did I mention that proceeds from all shows are donated to various female-centric charitable organizations? Sweet! This month’s meeting proceeds will go to Girls Write Now. See what the society has in store for you!

Mentions: 8pm Show (7pm Doors). $25 Presale, $30 Door ($20 for members of Green-Wood and BHS). Green-Wood Cemetery main entrance is located at our gothic arches at 5th Avenue and 25th Street in Brooklyn.
