Layers: Consider Yourself More Than ABLE to Enjoy HAMPTON YOUNT’s New Album Out on Audible

You know him as the voice of Crow on the Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return series on Netflix. He was recently a writer on Adult Swim’s “The Eric Andre Show” and a producer on MTV’s “Ridiculousness.” He has a podcast with Dave Ross called “Suicide Buddies” on Starburns Audio. Now let your ear holes take in the bevy of comedy that’s been unleashed upon the world in HAMPTON YOUNT’s new comedy album, ABLE, out NOW on Audible. The stand-up comedian, writer, and actor Yount was born in Virginia, started out in comedy in DC, and like many comics, finally found his way to Los Angeles. In that time, he’s brought us two stand-up albums, Unbearable and Bearable, and this month has unleashed his third album, ABLE (clever what he did there).

Hampton Yount performing on the “The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail” series on Comedy Central

After having a thorough listen to the new work, there’s no doubt Hampton (and I) enjoyed every second of this gut-busting performance. The comedian covers an exhaustive list of subject matter for an audience that’s game for a non-stop, curated, stream of consciousness type of laugh adventure. The majority of the material on the album comes out of left field, and that’s exactly what we love about it. Right off the bat, the listener is hit by a fly ball of a random Bill Nye nonsense fact and from there Hampton’s beautiful mind weaves a tapestry of funny and slightly sinister thoughts, experiences, and observations. No subject is off the table, including, science, Elon Musk, ex-presidents, ghost rats, divorce, guns, and, yes, even Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling. There’s so much you can embrace from ABLE, but my favorite track has to be “Hulkster.” I thought I had some weird childhood experiences, but Hampton takes the cake with his goofy summer puberty tale. Let’s just say you’ll never look at a Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy the same way again. As Hampton remarks, it’s some “Kronenberg level stuff!” Now go wade in the deep end a while with this masterful album that’s pure fun with a bit “Diarrhea Chaos” thrown in for good measure. Enjoy!
