The other day I was thinking about how much I despise phone calls. I don’t think despise is a strong enough word actually. “Loathe” and “detest” should just about cover it. It’s not just the calls to people you don’t wish to speak to like solicitors, misdialers or the phone company. It’s those awkward conversations with friends, relatives and loved ones.
