Sweet Tweets: We think Coop should be one of @midnight’s comedy writers

Christopher Cooper, the hotrod artist more famously known as Coop, received some unsolicited attention yesterday on Chris Hardwick’s @midnight show last night. It all started with this tweet (posted in early 2012)

The tweet was then read out during an @midnight segment exposing the Internet’s love for hashtagging tweets #WorseThanHitler. Contestants had to decide if 3 tweets actually contained the bold hashtag.

Coop’s tweet DID contain the hashtag and Hardwick stated “Maybe this guy’s proportion and his compass is out of whack. I don’t know. That’s just what it said.” A few fairly innocent jokes followed from the comedic contestants and it seemed to end there.

Of course, Coop fans brought the @midnight segment to the attention of the artist

Coop took the news in stride

then threw out some real witty jabs in his defense

The Hardwick fans soon chimed in and Coop was kinda forced to respond

and bask in the Twitter publicity

FINALLY, Hardwick pointed out the segment was not intended to cause Coop any problems

Coop acknowledged Hardwick’s response in his own special way

Even Coop’s pal Marc Maron checked in

Yet the Nerdgate seemed to continue (which I didn’t mind)

which can be wearing

but Coop stood by his original tweet and expounded upon it

and thanked the fans that supported him

Coop can now add comedy writer to his list of credits.

Mentions: Coop and Hardwick are really nice guys. I hope a happy partnership can be garnered from this episode. Nerds forever. Check out Coop’s amazing artwork HERE and HERE. Watch @midnight M-F 12A/11C on Comedy Central.
